For use with our Geotechnical wireline core barrel Geocore is a compact overshot used only for picking up the inner tube assembly and breaking the core.
Compact overshot
The compact overshot is used to pick-up the core barrel, and its small size means it is easier to handle and preferred over the dry-hole device when drilling in a wet hole. The overshot is simply lowered into the hole and a pair of sprung latches grab the spear point at the top of the inner tube assembly. Before removing the inner tube from the rig mast, a locking sleeve on the outer tube is turned to its lowest position to lock the latches shut and thus ensure the safe removal of the inner tube, which otherwise might slip.
