Dry-hole device

The dry-hole device has a NWY box connection at its top end and is connected to a standard NWY rod swivel (not supplied). At the upper end is a weight, which is stabilized in the drill rod by 4 welded fins. The weight is used to tap down on a spring steel lifting dog, causing the dog to open and the core barrel to be released once it is in position on the landing ring. To release the core barrel the adjusting nut must be turned to its uppermost position on the threaded shaft. The dry-hole device can also be used to pick up the inner tube assembly by turning the adjusting nut to its lowest position before lowering into the hole.
